I was honored to officiate this weekend for a wonderful couple, Perjman and Hengameh, two terrific individuals who found one another in a location neither would have ever imagined. Both of them originally from Iran, but from different cities never having met before. One living and working in the Dallas area while the other living in Denmark. Both of them raising their families, and then abruptly finding themselves at the end of their marriages.
It’s a very unlikely love story but one of great happiness with a happy ending. As the story goes, Perjman was enjoying a Travel Channel documentary about Denmark when, on the spur of the moment, decided it was the place for him to visit next. He checked his calendar, looked at airfares and booked his trip. Little did he know what waited ahead but finding love, and meeting Hengameh was the furthest thing from his mind – he wanted to discover Denmark and through it he found the greatest treasure of all.
The rest is a storybook ending. They met, fell in love, carried on a long distance romance until Hengameh agreed to give Texas a try and, two month later, decided that home was where her heart was, with Perjman.
We discover our love in all sorts of places and mostly when we’re least looking for it. Congratulations to Perjman and Hengameh and may they enjoy many wonderful years.
